Magdeburg Hemispheres - code: 4184.48
The clearest and funniest experiment to explain the concept of pressure. The Magdeburg hemispheres were designed by German scientist Otto von Guericke in 1650 to demonstrate the air pump he had invented and the concept of air pressure. A pair of large PVC hemispheres with mating rims. When the the air is pumped out, the sphere contains a vacuum and could not be pulled apart by hands. To power the machine, connect it to the Altay Vacuum Pump (code 4184.21).
